Ruthie and Family

Posted by Phil Morris (Saskatoon, Toronto, NYC, Canada) on 26 April 2017 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

This is the second or third time for me working on this image. It has been hard work as
there was so much grain on the faces and skin I had to work so far mostly on that part
of the picture, mostly diffusing and softening the grain so that it does not show as much
and overpower the picture. Then also I had to lighten the dark parts and skin. The back-
ground I put a heavy color on so that it covered the stains and heavy grain. I rather like
this photo just fixed like it is now. Also I never coloured the skin or even the outfits. I may
fix it more, but for now, it is possible to dream the orton effect !~

I have no date for this one, but I love it, as all Ruth's family picutres are pure gems. As
the oldest child, Ruthie always looks at ease with her siblings and so happy to be there.
A childhood family fantasy, Ruth's pictures all fall into the category of Much Loved Magic !~

An image full of life and joy. Everyone is happy here. The magic of your hand makes your skin a silk that demands a caress ... I love it. Ruthie will be happy... Hugs!

The year is probably 1957. My youngest brother was born March, 1956. A delight to have it brought to life. I have such happy memories, which come flooding back when I see this image. My heart is filled, Phil. thank you so very much for this treasure. Lots of love for your labors of love.

One couldn't wish for a happier "quintet" of siblings who all appear so jovial together as to be best of friends! Great work Phil on cleaning up this image!!
